Business Switch is the brainchild of Matthew Abrahams, a serial entrepreneur who has established, grown and sold several businesses within Australia and internationally.
The Business Switch concept was a result of Matthew’s frustration with the myriad obligations facing start up businesses. Even as an experienced operator, Matthew found himself wasting time and money establishing the back end of each new business, rather than being out in the market creating the excitement needed to generate sales.
“Business Switch can establish the foundation of a business in two weeks, rather than the usual three to four months,” says Matthew. “Not having to worry about the back end of the business allows business owners to pace themselves, and sustain their energy through those critical first months. We just do everything that needs to be done in the background.”
The Business Switch team of qualified professionals, all of whom have founded and run their own businesses, project manage the entire start up process. This includes creating an appropriate business structure, meeting government requirements, protecting intellectual property, sourcing insurance and establishing an IT platform. Other services include business planning, web design, migration advice, marketing support and access to a creative team.
Matthew is keenly aware of the financial challenges facing start up businesses, so he provides a number of packages that cater for everyone from a sole trader to a business owner requiring a complete company structure that can accommodate rapid growth. “With Business Switch, clients pay a single, fixed upfront fee, so they can budget for this without having to worry that costs will escalate,” says Matthew.
Many commentators believe that now is a challenging time to start a business, but Business Switch proves otherwise, both in terms of its own rapid growth and the number of start-ups it has worked with since launching. The client base is a mixture of first time entrepreneurs, people who have learnt the hard way that corporate Australia doesn’t always provide job security in tough times, and experienced business owners who don’t want the hassle of establishing a new business on their own. Other clients with existing businesses have realised that whilst their initial structure was effective in the early days, it is no long appropriate and needs to change.
Matthew’s long-term strategy is to build the brand into multiple markets. Business Switch goes direct to market through its website, a channel that Matthew believes is critical to being successful in today’s competitive business environment. “In fact,” he says, “I believe that understanding how SEO works is so important that business owners need to take responsibility for it themselves. It is not an area of the business that I am prepared to delegate.”
Business Switch has also grown by creating an extensive network of referral relationship partners. One example is Koala Konnection, a website that assists people migrating to Australia. Establishing a business from overseas can be extremely challenging, but Business Switch provides a turnkey solution that uses a team of suppliers who can be trusted to meet deadlines and stick to budgets.
To increase its visibility amongst foreign nationals wanting to establish a business in Australia, Business Switch is also a sponsor of the Migration Institute of Australia’s educational events and it has partner relationships with many licensed migration agents.
Matthews has found a refreshingly cooperative spirit amongst businesses committed to empowering start up businesses. He says, “Koala Konnection is just one part of the wide tapestry of important relationships we have built, as we extend the business fully into the market.”
