Research shows that consumers want to buy Australian made products and doing exactly that is now easier with the launch of online store My Aussie Shop. The business gives Australian manufacturers and processors the opportunity to promote their products online and allows consumers to buy these with a simple click of the mouse.

“A recent survey has shown that over 80% of consumers prefer Australian made products to be grouped together when they browse. My Aussie Shop brings together as many Australian Made products as possible into one easy-to-use, comprehensive online shop so users can support other Australians while finding exactly what they want with ease,” says owner Bob Blackall.

“With imports pushing local products off the shelves and manufacturers closing down resulting in a loss of skilled workers, it has become harder for consumers to find things that are made here. My Aussie Shop makes it much easier for consumers to find and purchase these products and we’re thrilled with the feedback we have had to date,” says Bob. The shop offers a wide range of goods: from artwork to car stickers, baby-wear to furniture.

My Aussie Shop is a Retail Supporter of the Australian Made, Australian Grown Campaign and only sells goods that are truly Australian made. Not only does the membership ensure that the products My Aussie Shop are of the best quality and that the major portion of each item has been manufactured, produced or grown in Australia, but because all items are shipped directly from the manufacturer, they are handled and delivered quickly and reliably.

Bob and his team encourages all its suppliers to use the green and gold logo to make it easier for consumers to readily find locally made goods when shopping outside the online store. “The public trusts and understands the green and gold logo’s meaning and significance, so it is a very important marketing tool,” he says.

The Australian Made, Australian Grown logo is Australia’s most widely used and best known product symbol, with 98% recognition domestically and rapid growth in awareness internationally. It is now also available to use on fresh and processed produce.

The logo clearly establishes that a product is Australian and thereby enables businesses to capitalise on the consumer goodwill associated with being Australian. It is the centre-pieceof a major collective effort by business to promote Australian manufacturing and Australian products to the world.

Launched by the federal government in 1986, the logo celebrated its 20th anniversary in November 2006 and now enjoys a strong position as the most trusted and recognised product symbol of Australia and as a result, the Campaign is experiencing record growth in the number of new licensees. The famous green and gold logo can be found in more than 30 countries around the world and is used by some of Australia’s leading businesses.

Any person, business or organisation can apply for a licence to use the Australian Made, Australian Grown logo.

All goods promoted in association with the trade mark must meet the compliance criteria set out in the Code of Practice.Licensees agree to be bound by rules and conditions that relate to record keeping and compliance, and are subject to auditing by the Campaign. The cost of a licence to use the logo on authorised products is linked to the turnover value of those products. Only authorised products may carry the logo.
